Lately I’ve developed a new obsession for the brand Kenzo, a fashion brand out of Paris started in 1970. Formerly known as “Jungle Jap”, the brand was founded by Kenzo Takada, who sold his handmade women’s collection. Kenzo has since branched out to men’s ready to wear, kids wear, home collections and even fragrances. I first came across them while creating a set on Polyvore.com and it’s been love every since. The thing that caught my eye about this brand is it’s playful patters and textures, along with its urban street style flare. This jungle inspired brand is one that I feel is very versatile and fits the style of many, especially myself. It’s new 2013 Fall/Winter Collection is definitely one of my faves.
“For KENZO’s Fall Winter 2013 collection, we examined ancient Asian temples around India, Nepal and China. We took a mythological pilgrimage to the soaring heights of the temple’s pinnacles where the symbol of the Eye beams as a protector in all directions of North, South, East and West. When commissioning fabrics from Kenzo Takada’s former haberdashery, we came across reams of multicolored, grosgrain ribbons and imagined the reconstruction of these marvelous temples using rich, multicolored and opulent fabrics of gold jacquard and printed lamé.” – Kenzo on their inspiration for this collection.
